Ten years.
That's how long ASIST has been running the information architecture community's flagship event, the IA Summit. The first summit I attended was in 2001, and even then the practice seemed like it was just getting its legs. I've been to seven summits in total now and it's one of my favourite events--great people, great conversation and great passion for making information and technology more accessible and easier to use.
This year Heather and I will be heading to Memphis for the event. I'll be participating in the panel Evolve or Die with Christina Wodtke, Russ Unger and Joshua Porter. The other panelists have promised me it will be provocative and incendiary.
We'll also be coordinating the UX trading card game/give-away again this year. Dennis pulled together this year's cards, and he did an especially great job on the index card:

We'll post the new 2009 cards after the IA Summit. In the meantime, if you see us at the summit, please say hi.
